James Bond's great cocktails reimagined by L'Univers Café
1 May 2026 · By L'Univers Café
From the Vesper to the Dry Martini, 007's cocktails tell a certain idea of elegance. Our bartenders reinterpret them in the speakeasy spirit of the house.

The Vesper, Ian Fleming's cocktail manifesto
Created by Ian Fleming in Casino Royale, the Vesper blends gin, vodka and Kina Lillet. Dry, sharp, uncompromising. Our version keeps the original structure but uses a Nantes gin and a more floral white vermouth, softening the attack.
The Dry Martini, a timeless exercise in style
Three ingredients, a thousand interpretations. The Dry Martini remains the bartender's moment of truth. We serve it very cold, very dry, in the tradition of the great 1920s hotel bars. It's one of the classics you'll find on our cocktail menu, alongside the Manhattan and Negroni.
Old Fashioned, Negroni: the Bond spirit applied to classics
In Skyfall and Spectre, Bond moves away from the Martini to rediscover the Old Fashioned , warmer, more grounded. We prepare it with bourbon, brown cane sugar and house bitters. A perfect recipe for our immersive nights, between velvet and low lighting.
Drinking like 007 in Nantes
Reimagining James Bond is celebrating an art of living: the cocktail as a suspended moment, as a stance. That's what we've defended since 1852 at L'Univers Café, the oldest cocktail bar in Nantes.
